Since bursting onto the New Orleans scene with consecutive performances at the 2009 French Quarter Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, Honey Island Swamp Band has hit the oad hard, drawing capacity crowds in New York, Baltimore, D.C. and San Francisco, among others. Performances at the Chenango Blues Fest in Norwich, NY, the Federal Hill Jazz and Blues Fest in Baltimore, MD and the Midsummer Music Fest in Atlanta, GA highlighted a summer that saw the band develop from a local barroom favorite to a legitimate touring act. At home in New Orleans, HISB has earned the privilege of headlining such legendary and premier venues as Tipitina’s, the Maple Leaf, d.b.a. and the Blue Nile.
Rounding out a great 2009, the band is looking ahead to follow up its most recent CD,
Wishing Well, with a new CD featuring new material that has become core of their live set. Road tested and crowd approved, this new crop of songs promises to further the band’s growing reputation as some of the best young songwriters to come out of New Orleans in years. Honey Island Swamp Band is thrilled to partner with Threadhead Records to produce this much anticipated album. Recording is set to begin in January, with an official release planned for early April 2010.
