The Tip Jar – Debbie Davis Project Update

Debbie Davis emailed last week with this update….and know that while we are getting close to the 10K goal for her, we still need to push for more to get to the finish line. Or maybe to the end zone would be more appropriate, with football season starting. At any rate, from Debbie:

I’ve had a meeting with Mark Bingham from Piety (Studios) about whether or not he can work with my budget (HE CAN!! We start scheduling soon), met with Zack Smith yesterday about album art (we’ve already conceptualized the cover and we’re scouting locations to shoot in October when it’s not so gross out), I have a working title (“It’s Not the Years, It’s the Miles” the title of one of the Alex McMurray penned tunes I’m doing) and I’ve got a list of songs – 2 by Paul Sanchez and 3 by Alex (2 of the Alex songs he wrote FOR ME and I’m over the moon to be the one who gets to record them first). When Matt takes a break from 9 Lives arrangements (as he must or he turns into a lunatic) he works on arrangements for me. He’s halfway through the Irving Berlin song I’m recording. It’s a ragtime/trad tune from 1918 about an unassuming guy who is great in bed.  Yeah, it’s gonna be like that.

I’m super excited about getting to work on the project and will be going into the studio as soon as scheduling allows it whether we’ve gotten to 10K or not. I’m confident we will get there so I’m just going to move forward. I’ll keep doing my bi-monthly facebook reminders and if there’s anything else I can do to help the process you know you have but to ask and I’ll be on it.

Looking ever forward,

  1. Wow! I was just wondering what was up Debbie’s project. Actually, emailed her and THR to see where she was at.
Anyway, saw this and went to the tip jar for her again. Debbie singing Alex’s tunes with Matt’s arrangements. Add in Mark at the console and I’m sure we’ll see some other guests drop by. How can this not get a Grammy, or at least Best of the Beat?

I’m really looking forward to this project coming to fruition. I tipped out Debbie(for this project) when I was in Nola at the end of May when she appeared at Chickie Wha-Wha with Paul Sanchez. She was fantastic. I encourage everybody to kick into this to get the music flowing back to our ears.
    Love y’all baby!!!

  5. Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Finding the time and actual effort to produce a superb article… but what can I
say… I put things off a whole lot and never seem to get anything done.
